I found that the service and the people that work Westlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery to be sensitive to the situation. The employees found solutions to the problems that arrive from such a highly emotional event. The employees made the passing of my mother to be much easier than expected. The facilities are beautiful as well as the grounds. The whole experience was so nice that my husband and I did our own funeral and Cemetery arrangements at Westlawn with Kelly Mayes , who was exceptional.
If you aren't already tied to this place because your family member already has a plot here, you should avoid it. I've been dealing with this place since August of 2016 and it has been one disappointment after the other. Here is just one example:My Grandmother was buried at their cemetery in early March 2017. It is now March 2018. The engraving has still not been done on the headstone. Today, I called to inquire as to why, in a full year (which as most do, included the seasons of spring, summer, and fall) the engraving still had not been done, a rude man named Len would not tell me what the delay was from. Why? Because of privacy laws!I wasn't asking about payment information or anything personal. I was asking about the lack of care and consideration displayed by Westlawn. Not sure how that falls under privacy law at all, Len.I was the person to set up all of the meetings between my family and Westlawn. We have the same last name and I could have verified any of my Dad's information. He's on vacation, but Len insisted that he speak with him directly to "discuss the status of the engraving". Super private information! He also sarcastically informed me that if his son called in asking for information about an engraving delay that he wouldn't want that information given to him. That was really the "cherry on top" of an already negative customer service experience.I think the real kicker though is that when I asked to speak with the person who handled our account (Annie), Len said she wasn't in. So I asked when she would be in. He said, "I don't know, she's away taking care of a sick family member." Which to me, is much more private information than explaining to me why an engraving promised by his company had not been delivered.
My mother-in-law had prearranged her burial and we had no issues when she passed. Westlawn's staff was very helpful through it all. They catered a lunch for us and everyone commented on how wonderful the food and the venue was. They made sure every request was handled.
Although I have not used the services of this fine establishment I always get a sense of whimsy when I drive by and see the "call now for great selection" of places for your eternal rest, people should not care about that.
Dealing with Carol Yu has been incredible with dealing with our whole family, from everyone here we truly appreciate how well the whole company has dealt with the whole situation. Many thanks!
