My husband and I had the lucky opportunity to eat dinner at SC Damn Good Food tonight. It was a delicious experience to say the least. The beef carpaccio was fresh, salmon cooked to perfection, wild mushroom croquettes brought to the table by the Chef Chartrand. My husbands ribs fell off the bone and were accompanied by a spicy chilli. To end the meal we endulged on crispy bannock smothered in sauce and berries. The food was excellent, service was efficient and atmosphere inviting. We would highly recommend visiting this unique and tasty establishment.
Went here for my Birthday dinner last weekend. We made a reservation for 7:30 and when we showed up the hostesses didn't seem to have a table available as I think they over sat the section. They quickly found a table but when we sat down we waited almost 20 min for the server to show up. She apologized but then started complaining that they had let everyone in at the same time. We ordered drinks and an appetizer (shrimp) and again waited another 15min for our drinks to show up and for her to take main course order. I wanted to order the prime rib but unfortunately they were sold out (at 8pm on a Saturday night). I ended up getting the salmon with Marsala cream sauce and my boyfriend got the 3 meat platter (chicken, ribs and brisket). We finally ended up getting our appetizer about 50min after we had arrived, The shrimp was okay but the breading was soggy and not very appetizing. Our meals showed up about about 10 min later, while the salmon was cooked very well the sauce was bland and the whole dish needed salt. On the 3 meat platter the brisket was pretty fatty and none of the meat really comes with any sort of sauce, it is literately just a platter of smoked meat, although both the pickles and beans were pretty tasty. While waiting for our meal/appetizer we saw another table sat, get their meal and get ready to leave which I wasn't too impressed with since our meal seemed to take forever and we had a reservation. At the end of the meal my boyfriend gave feedback to the server about the wait times and again she just complained that they had sat everyone at the same time and didn't really seem to care. I was definitely not impressed with either the service or the quality of the meal for the price we paid and will likely not go back.
The bannock, berries and ice cream dessert is one of my all time favourite desserts. High quality and interesting food. I like to take out of town guests here because the food is a nice showcase of some Albertan classics. Everyone always loves the steaks.Service is attentive and professional.
Sage was much better!!! Surprised the chef is the same person... no offence to him but to change to such a place from what it was is completely surprising.. the menu is not good my friend.. the bread and butter you received at the beginning of the meal used to be delicious, upon our first visit to the new restaurant we received dry baguette and some gross oil concoction that it took the waitress five minutes to explain with little follow through on the flavour of what was actually in the bottle..I am a red seal chef as well ... I am sorry they tell me this was your call.. very confused as we much preferred sage atmosphere as well as menu.. may not return:(
We went there for buck a shuck tonight and had an awesome experience! Not only did we have the oysters (which were amazing) we also had the pork belly and tempura shrimp. The food was so good, service was amazing and great atmosphere! Definitely one of my new favourite restaurants
