Location West Edmonton Mall, Edmonton Canada. Its called Crunch Fitness now.Crunch fitness sort of sadly devolved in removing the TV screens from the tread mills, getting rid of end-less indoor swimming pool, cardio centenary and sauna rooms.Its simply an large ordinary gym now so deserves ordinary ratings. Nothings terribly wrong, except that dirty locker rooms, toilets and sweaty gym instruments dont befit the once famed West Edmonton Mall. On the positive side its a large 24x7 gym.Its HUGE. Has an exclusive workout area for women, a spin room, basketball court and a daycare. Staff keeps changing but are generally friendly. I definitely recommend. Ive seen others in the area, Crunch is clearly the best in the area.
I enjoy what the gym offers for the low prices and I absolutely love the classes that are offered. Their staff and class teachers are the most friendliest people. The music they play in the afternoon is also really good. However there is absolutely no place that they post their schedules, updates or rules online and rarely answer their emails. The only place you can read them are on the random walls they tape the paper on. You can have a premium membership with a guest pass at the age of 16 but you cannot use the guest pass for anyone under 18- which is a huge waste to purchase a premium membership if your friends are under 18. They do not even warn you that your guest must be over 16 when you enroll- Got a friend to travel all the way to WEM and they got denied.
I called Crunch three separate times to see when I could come in to sign up for the Westmount location. I went in person to sign up during the window when they were supposed to be open three separate times. There was no one there. It was such a frustrating experience either to be given the wrong information or to have to deal with employees who were slacking off and not present during the hours they were supposed to be working. This is the kind of service that Crunch offers when they're theoretically trying to attract customers. I'm sure the level of negligence and incompetence will only increase once they've got members hooked. I'd recommend that any prospective client read reviews of Crunch in general before deciding to sign up. They're generally pretty negative. I'm going to GoodLife instead.
Low key gym. Men's washrooms can be really stinky,some gym goers are really little punks, little respect for other gym members. Some people just visit each other instead of working out and sit on equipment the longest they can. Some people are just loud and lack of manners. Manager is awesome though. Although, other staff members need more customer service skills. Equipment are kinda old or malfunction at some degree. But membership fees are reasonable.
