Went there last night to report a person rear ending my car while I was a stop sign. The officer was very polite and answered all my questions along with assessing the damage. I was informed it looked under $2000 dollars so I there was no need to file a report though I should phone my insurance company. Will definitely go back here if I ever need anything from the police.
Friendly, professional service. Relayed helpful information that was specific for my needs. Pleasant experience.
I am disappointed with how my request was handled at this location. I attempted to make a collision report and was told that the damage to my vehicle looked like it was less than the $2,000 minimum to file a report and that I should go to a body shop for an estimate before filing a report if required. I was advised to write down a statement of my own for my own records in case of a future dispute, so I would remember all of the details of the accident. I did not feel comfortable being told that I was essentially not allowed to fIle a report and have some documentation of the collision, so I went to the Claireview police station, and my request was handled with no problems.Edited to add: When speaking to the person at Clareview, they informed me that the $2,000 minimum is for both vehicles combined. The repairs on my car alone ended up being over $3,000, so clearly the first officer who looked at my car was not a good judge of how much the repairs would cost.In addition, many body shops require the police report to be completed first, so telling me to go to the body shop first does not really make sense. The officer at Calder station was very friendly, but I was very displeased with the lack of service.
The lack of consideration and professionalism by EPS officers is extremely concerning. I was told at this particular location that they could not accept my report. I watched two other people get dismissed as if they couldn't be bothered to help the people that came to them. One woman was shouting an officer for his badge number... and she was absolutely right to feel that way. The officer was useless.I drove to the Claireview department where the officers there were straight shooters and were able to receive my report and forward it to who it needed to go to.I have reservations about EPS's ability to perform their job and serve the public. After all, if they are unwilling to receive a simple report, how can I expect them to help me when my life is in danger?I hope that one day, I will be able to trust the police in this city again, but it's obvious that there is a culture of apathy amongst officers and its effect on the city's crime rate and poor response times is plain for all to see. It's interactions such as these that cause the public to lose faith in the people that are supposed to protect them.
Can no longer fill out a report for a B&E at the station. Must do online, not on a mobile browser.
