Oh, the lemon cookies! I've died and gone to heaven. They are very light with a great lemon flavor. Then, to add to my delight I got a soft ginger cookie...pure delight.
Trust your instincts. I randomly came upon this place after work craving carrot cake. I came in not knowing what to expect and was a little hesitant due to their prices. And let me tell you, it;s so worth the price. I went with my gut instinct and knew immediately that I had to get a second one, and on top of that pre-order for a full size cake as well! The quality was superb, and the taste was perfect. Having said that, I've eaten a lot of carrot cake in and from several other countries including France, but this had to be one of the best carrot cakes I've eaten. The place itself was very relaxing, and the girl at the front who helped me was super nice.So glad I got that full size cake! I know now where my cravings will lead me to the next time :)
Great desserts and coffee. Large selection of cakes and pastries that look really attractive. Reasonable prices. Comfortable space. Outdoor seats available. May be too crowded in summer, but on cold winter weekdays easy to find seat. Afternoon tea here with friends is excellent.
Total score : B+Quality of desserts : ACoffee and espresso quality : B+Decor : B-Electrical outlets : DSeating availability : BOutdoor seating : C+Corporate responsibility: D-A good second place to Duchess Patisserie. Except this place is MORE expensive than Duchess!Employees receive no discounts. That is a big red flag. The desserts are delicious. They taste exactly like what they are supposed to. The mandarin mousse tastes like mandarin. The cheese cake danishes are rich and fruity. The "cruffins" are flakier that an online blind date. All in all, good value. The servings are not as large as Duchess Patisserie on 124 st downtown. High end pricing but worth it. (This place is substantially more expensive than the no.1 bakery in Edmonton). Baked goods MIGHT just be slightly better than Duchess Patisserie but the other desserts are not as tasty as Duchess. Overall boring decor, much too small servings, slightly over-priced and cramped seating but tasty treats. Somewhat recommended.
This place is amazing. It competes with Duchess. If you are looking to avoid long lines and go to a place that is more quaint but with equally good desserts and fantastic coffee then consider this place. The cheese cake is amazing and the baguettes are so fresh and delicious. I don't know why this place is not more well known but I'm happy it isn't because it would be over run.
