My visit was great, Dr. B explained all that could be done and did explain that the process could change as well. My concern is that I went for a consultation and quote but now there is another appointment I have to attend in order to obtain a quote. Another procedure has to be completed to provide an accurate quote apparently. I would think this should be fairly standard to quote.
I have never met someone with a larger, more twisted ego in my entire life. I was warned about this prior to the appointment, but given the nature of my dental/nerve troubles, didn't have much choice but to see him. I wanted to walk out of the appointment about 10 minutes in. Frist, he was an hour late in seeing me, and then saunters in as tho that's irrelevant. The entire appointment was essentially him telling me that everything I've had done by every specialist wasn't good enough. The appointment carried on with him trash-talking Orthodontist Dr. Terry Carlyle and Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Kevin Lung (both of who happen to be family friends of mine). During the exam, he told me I was being too over-protective of my jaw joints, and when I told him that my jaw has a tendency to lock shut and that the first time it happened I went to the ER, he told me that "ER doctors know nothing, that couldn't happen. It can't lock shut that way.". Well pardon me, but I'm the one who sat in the ER and saw the x-rays, so I'm 100% certain that it happened, not to mention that ER doctors have more education than he does. I'd told him that I receive Botox in my TMJ and all over my head/neck for migraines. He asked who does this for me and I told him it's my Neurologist. He was baffled as to why a Neuro would be allowed to administer Botox...hmm, maybe because he went to school for 12 years to obtain a Medical Degree and knows everything there is to know about nerves and migraines. He then advised I get it done in his office instead. NO THANKS. The prices are also outrageous and actually quite laughable, though don't expect any estimates to be accurately submitted. They submitted estimates twice to my benefits plan for the same thing, explaining to me it's because they screwed up the first one, which was a quote of $3900+, then they submitted it the same way AGAIN at $3900+. So I called their treatment coordinator and she said that no, those are both incorrect, the Maryland Bridge will actually cost $8000.....When discussing these cost differences with Sunlife, they said that it appears Kucey is using an unnecessary code when billing for this bridge, as there was a cheaper alternate code that could be used. Sunlife found this to be rather shady, given that the first two estimates of $3900 were on par with the cost of a Maryland Bridge. I went to a different prosthodontist that Dr. Terry Carlyle recommended and they quoted me $3600 and did a fabulous job. So, if that doesn't explain to you that this office is a rip-off where you'll be treated like garbage, suit yourself.
They say they care and understand peoe with high fear and anxiety with dealing with the dentist well..... I would recommend they include on their website that they will not bill your insurance plan you have to pay up front. It took me so much to even request a call and then the first time I seen them calling I froze and couldn't answer the phone. I did manage to force myself to answer the second time only to hear they won't help. I can't afford to pay up front that is the whole idea of having a plan. They would electronic file for me to get the money but not them. So now I am back at square one and have to muster up the courage to call another office. It physically makes me I'll the thought of it.
I was aware of Kucey Dental's cancellation policy which states they need 48 hours notice of cancelling an appointment. About 6 months ago, due to my work schedule, I was unable to make it for my scheduled cleaning. I called with 26 hours notice and they advised they would have to charge me a fee, which I said I understood. The reception staff then wanted to reschedule me and I had to ask several times what the cancellation fee was. I was eventually told it is $150. THIS IS NOT LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE. I would never have gone there in the first place if I had known it was a $150 fee for cancelling (and willing to reschedule) a cleaning. I told the receptionist if that is the case, I will pay the $150 (because I'm a reasonable person) and would like my file closed. The receptionist did not ask why, did not express her regret or ask if there's anything else they could do; she just took my credit card number and hung up. From my research, most places charge $50 for cancellations, or, they charge nothing at all if you are willing to reschedule. Overall, reception staff was very rude and things could have been handled better. - Kassey. I will not be leaving my last name.
The staff were absolutely phenomenal. They eased my dental fears and made me feel very welcome. The work that was done was outstanding. Brian and Elena are excellent professionals. I'm looking forward to my next visit because I know that I'll be taken care of. Thanks again!
