If I could rate this store 0 I would, I have shopped here since it opened, thousands of dollars on tools, car maintenance stuff and house things, never a problem. Today I went in to get some stuff for vehicle maintenance, Oil, fiberglass, filters, primer and sealant. 120$, I didn't have a cart so I had a product in my pocket to free up hand space. Completely forgot about it, I paid for everything else, 120$ later I walk out and Private security cuffs me for shoplifting, I understand as I did walk out forgetting about said product. The security officer tells me the two of them were "undercover". I figure its pretty obvious as I had just spent 120$ and I was in my work coveralls that it was a mistake and nothing would happen. I shop here regularly and figure they would understand I wasn't attempting any theft. I'm 27, served 5 years with the military, 1 year corrections officer and no criminal record. Now I have to go to court to dispute a shoplifting under $5000 charge for just over $15 of product. The security had waited until I left the building so he could cuff and charge me instead of just letting me know prior to leaving that I had something in my pocket. I get they were just doing their jobs but this seems ridiculous.
This is my favorite Canadian Tire to shop at. This store is two levels and has an escalator for convenience. Store is very well put together, the front greeter is kind, but some of the staff on the floor are hard to find. The check out is pretty quick, but I find most of them don't really care to talk to you or ask if you found everything. Maybe it's just me. I would recommend this place for all your shopping needs.
I went in this morning for replacement racks for my BBQ. I was having a hard time finding what I need and was ready to leave and go elsewhere. I was referred to Don (I think), who is noted as the BBQ specialist. He was so helpful, and very patient. He was also so easy to talk to. I don't think I have ever had anyone help me as much as he did and very grateful for his assistance. At the end he even helped walk us out the store. You guys need to hire more people like him!
The staff are almost always very helpful at this Canadian tire. The store is tidy and clean. I can't give it 5 stars because they have a policy stating that you cannot bring your dog shopping with you. I can bring my well trained dog shopping at other Canadian tire locations. The manager is very nice and helpful.
You know the bigger Canadian tire, the harder it is to find help. And when you do find an associate he/she cant seem to help you because he's from a different department. Well Canadian tire I have a brilliant idea. Start cross training your associates for different departments. Every quarter switch them up so they are forced to learn new skills and brush up on different departments. I bet you your customers experience will improve.
