This is a traditional Chinese food restaurant in the middle of Edmonton's Chinatown. Judging by the extensive menu, it has enough dishes to satisfy various tastes. They cater to both Caucasian and Asian palates. Being the former, I was fortunate enough to have a friend who's been working in PRC for the last three years so he ordered for our group (three of us altogether).Although most North Americans would scoff at our choices as being... North American, the quality of the food was definitely "down home". We ordered four dishes: dry garlic pork ribs, BBQ pork egg foo yung, chicken and vegetables, and chicken chow mein in black bean sauce. All plates were served immediately as they came off the grill/wok so everything was hot and fresh, even though they didn't all arrive at the same time (which was actually a good thing). The pork ribs were crispy yet tender on the inside. The chicken dishes were very tasty with the veggies hot but crunchy. The chicken was "velveted" (if you're into Chinese cooking, you'll know what I mean). The foo yung was stacked high and it too was great. The dishes were so generously apportioned, we couldn't finish (did I mention that we were three LARGE guys?).About the only negative is that other than the fast food service, getting tea and ice water refills took quite a bit of time but I suspect that's because there was only one server working the floor. Speaking of which, it's not a huge restaurant. There might be another room out back but we were in the front area and there were tables and chairs for maybe 40 diners. All in all though, a definite go to for lunch if you're in an "Asian" mood. BTW: I assume that they also serve supper. That might be another upcoming review in the works!
The year of the restaurant tells everything. My aunt was there when she were teen. Over 50 years, it still exist. Good food and cheap in town
A unique low-key HK-style restaurant located in the heart of Chinatown. It's not located in the best area but it's not a bad place to get a quick meal on a lazy day. Every time I go I fall for the Cheese-pork-spaghetti/ or the cheese-pork-rice. Or the pork noodle soup. Parking is not the best either but prices are reasonable and restaurant interior is very casual.
I got the seafood shanghai noodles. There was very little seafood, and they (and the noodles) tasted very briny. The dish was huge - easily enough for 2 hungry people. I ended up throwing most of it away since I didn't find it worth saving with how briny it tasted.Service was pretty good, and the restaurant was very clean.
Good chinese food and super cheap...looks very western but not bad quality and authenticiy. Ask for Chinese menu or items on it...best part is when dining in the portions are huge and prices are quite cheap. Tastes fresh and freshly made, shrimp wontons are awesome and bursting with meat. Well recommend in the area as seldom full or super busy.
