Duchess Bake Shop has own multiple awards for a reason, it is one of the best if not the best pastry shop in the city. The atmosphere is looks modern french and all the fresh baking is on display for you to choose what you want. Be sure to arrive earlier on in the day if you want some of the more popular items such as the Duchess Cake which is by far the best cake I have ever tasted. The Pepin's are also extremely good and I would highly recommend to try these two items. The staff are very accommodating and nice to deal with even if you are indecisive and are going back and forth with what you want. The parking can be somewhat of a challenge as it's essentially street parking only on 124th street, however the area is pedestrian friendly so it should not be too much of an issue.
Great bakery shop. Always awesome products.One star off due to inconsistent product received. As picture attached, one of the butter tarts was only 1/3 filled as compared to the bottom left which is totally filled.Average service. Maybe hire someone that is genuinely into providing great services and have product knowledge on the baked goods, instead of late teens/early 20s that could not be bothered in answering questions, smile back or even acknowledge customers thank you.
The food here is wow. Wish it were larger, we could only sit outside it was so full (on wet seats), and more parking - but I'd still give it 5 stars overall. Shortbread was amazing.
Nice place to sit down to have a coffee and pastry. I really enjoyed the French inspired atmosphere / decor inside.I had the cherry pie and my partner had the lemon meringue. Just like the store, the appearance of both pastries were top notch and looked like art. However, in my opinion, the taste was average. I would come here for the dining atmosphere.
The almond croissant is not bad but not best I had. I was expecting to be a little more airy, the perfect, rich, buttery, flaky, puffed croissant. The coffee is what I have a beef about. The presentation is nice, but the coffee itself is not. I ordered a cappuccino; my coffee tastes burnt. I dont know if its because the milk was steamed at the high temperature and for too long, or the espresso shot took forever.
