Greenbank veterinary services Ltd. is an antiquated and inept reproduction clinic. They botched the AI of my dog.To properly evaluate performance, you have to research and know accepted procedures, as I did. As a scientifically trained person, I only access bonafide scientific and research websites. As I watched a monitor, the tech flushed AI material(sire's collection) out of my dog during the TCI, prompting the vet to yell "Not So Fast". The vet later said this was not a concern when I complained to the manager. The vet should have told the tech, prior to instilling the material(sire's collection), to do it slowly. During a complaints process the vet stated that she always say Not So Fast after the material is instilled, even for surgical implants. For surgical implants. the open end is squeezed so liquid cannot escape.I watched on the monitor as the thawed material obliterated the screen image. I was told by an expert that this was classic backflow for material instilled too quickly.The tech thawed the material too soon, instead of after the dog was cannulated. Thawing just before use is proper procedure so the material does not receive another deteriorating insult. The disorganized tech made me wait in the hall while they set up the equipment instead of prior to the procedure starting. The owner vet, in a coverup attempt, claimed during a complaints hearing that the clinic always does it this way. During a complaints process, the owner claimed, in writing, to have a non existent certificate to perform TCI's. How does this fit with the claim by the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association(ABVMA) that Veterinarians are self regulating because they hold themselves to a higher standard? ABVMA did not consider the false statement as an issue because Greenbank agreed with me that the certificate did not exist and only had a certificate of attendance to a training session on just two dogs.I left the clinic after the procedure without any information about an expected whelping date. I phoned back the following business day and received the whelping date. When I complained to the manager on her return from a holiday, I received, by email, the whelping date, ultrasound date, and x-raying date. The vet owner later claimed that they always check and recheck the dates on the weekend procedures before releasing them two weeks later. Medical records show that the dates were entered in the records on the day of the procedure.Turns out the owner vet did not know the difference between day one of the heat cycle and day zero of the ovulation process. Therefore the whelping date was one day too early. +/- is for the female/environmental influence, not the calculation.You have to thread the catheter into the point where oviducts branch off to greatly enhance success and decrease flow back threat. Greenbank did not instil the thawed frozen material(sire's collection) the day after progesterone levels reached 10 ngm, as is recommended by a renowned UK head of a University reproduction faculty. The endoscope used in the procedure dripped liquid during testing and was supposed to be dry and free of disinfecting liquid prior to use. This clinic covers up mistakes by blaming failures on poor fertility. The male used sired 75 UK litters and others globally. My female had her largest litter of 9 pups by TCI, at another clinic, a year later at age 7. No fertility issues here.Greenbank veterinary Services is not a reliable reproduction clinic. The UK and Europe ban the surgical implant, which this clinic promotes under the guise of higher success rate. Surgical implants are major surgery and tough on the female.You are wasting your time and money on reproductive services at Greenbank Veterinary Services Ltd.
Our first visit was to have our 7 month puppy neutered. The front staff and techs were lovely, but I was puzzled by the lady who came in for his pre-exam. She did not introduce herself, nor did she greet my dog. My dog was excited to see her (as he is uber friendly and loves everyone), but she went straight to the exam. She struggled to see in his mouth because he kept trying to get to her. She expressed frustration that she couldn't examine him and I said he is trying to greet you. If you greet him, he will calm down. She seemed reluctant to do this, but sort of petted his head after which he calmed somewhat. She really did NOT seem to like or feel comfortable with him. Maybe it was his size - he is big, but honestly, I was wondering why this lady was even working there and figured she was some low tech (like an orderly). Later, I went to pick up my dog and I commented that I realized I did not actually meet the vet! The lady at the front said Oh, that's who did his pre-surgery exam! I expressed surprise and said she had not introduced herself, and she seemed afraid of my dog. I confirmed I could request the other vet when we come in the future. Based on location and other reviews, I'd like to give this clinic another chance, but no way will I have a vet oversee care of my dog who clearly does not even like dogs (or maybe just not large, friendly ones).
